    About the entrepreneur: Sergio Samoilovich, M.D., Ph.D.

    Being an M.D. does not help much for this project, but is not an obstacle. I never worked as a physician, I was a basic scientist instead, with four years of training in New York State University at Albany.

    As a scientist, I was always involved with technical information and the latest advances in information processing. I learned to manage projects, people and budgets, and to use computers for information retrieval, mathematical modeling and communication with peers. I enjoyed researching all possible applications of computers in science, communication and also in business.

    In 1990, I notice the lack of a good PC manual for novices in my country. Thus, I wrote a book that was quite successful and underwent 5 editions. I was encouraged to write other 5 books on different computer subjects. I also was invited to write newspaper columns and magazine articles.

    Soon after the Internet arrived to Argentina (1995) , I decided to quit my job as a Pharmaceutical Marketing Advisor and to start my own Web contents company. Some of my customers are in the medical or pharmaceutical field.

    I took an intensive Workshop on Tech Entrepreneurship in 1996, focusing my efforts on the growing Net-business field.

    For the last 5 years, I devoted my full time to the Internet . I published about 900 pages and read about 30,000 emails. While designing web pages for a living, I read everything I could about Internet technology. I kept writing, replacing web pages for printed books.

    I always envisioned a number of good web-based businesses. I published short descriptions of them in my website, hoping to attract investors. Only recently I started a more aggressive funding campaign, writing complete business plans and attending investor-web entrepreneur meetings such as First Tuesday and LatinVenture.
